FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
How long does it take to produce a book?
- The process of producing a memoir in book form takes six to eighteen months, based on the Narrator’s availability and turn-around of drafts. It may also vary depending upon whether the Narrator brings a draft manuscript for editing or whether the Narrator is interviewed and the manuscript is written and produced by Mixed Media Memoirs. The overall estimate of time includes fees for graphic design of the book cover and layout.
How long does it take to produce a video?
- A video production takes a minimum of three-six months, and longer if there are multiple individuals to interview and sites to visit.
How much does it cost to have a memoir written and produced in book form?
- The cost of each book depends upon the scope of the project: the number of individuals interviewed, length of the book, the number of photos incorporated and the graphic art production. There is an hourly rate for editing existing manuscripts. Once the client’s requirements are determined, a price can be agreed upon.
How much does it cost to produce a video?
- The price of the video includes: interviewing time as well as any preliminary research, number of people to be interviewed and number and location of sites to be used, videographer(s) fees and editing time. A narrator may also be hired for a portion of the video. The cost of producing the approved version in the format(s) requested is also a factor. The defined scope of the overall project helps determine the final fee.
I have conducted extensive genealogical research about my family history. What can be done with all these names, dates and my family tree?
- You have already accomplished a great deal. By adding cherished family stories and descriptions of personalities as well as photos of ancestors and other artifacts to the dates and names you have collected, we will help you bring the data to life in a book or video format.
Why should I commission a memoir?
- The next generations of your family deserves to hear your version of your life.
- Psychologists have found: “The more children knew about their family’s history, the stronger their sense of control over their lives, the higher their self-esteem and the more successfully they believed their families functioned.” http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/17/fashion/the-family-stories-that-bind-us-this-life.html?_r=0
